Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5777

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: Some words (of bitterness) passed between me and Ammar bin Yasir (may Allah be pleased with him), so I complained about him to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Khalid! Whoever reviles Ammar, Allah reviles him; whoever shows enmity to Ammar, Allah shows enmity to him; and whoever belittles Ammar, Allah belittles him."
Imam al-Hakim said: I previously mentioned the narration of Abu Dawud from Shu'bah as being among the singular narrations of Abu Dawud, but then I also found this narration by way of Amr bin Marzuq.

Note / Clarification: In our manuscripts this word came with the letter "ya'" retained, whereas the usual rule is to drop the "ya'". The form found in the manuscripts also has a justification in Arabic grammar. See: Ibn Malik's "Shawahid al-Tawdih wa al-Tashih" p. 22.

Note / Clarification: This narration has already passed at number (5771) through the route of Abu Dawud al-Tayalisi (who narrates from Shu'bah).
