أخبرنا أبو محمد الحسن بن محمد الأزهري، حدثنا محمد بن أحمد بن البَرَاء، حدثنا علي بن عبد الله المَدِينيّ، حدثنا يعقوب بن إبراهيم بن سعد، عن محمد بن عبد الله ابن أخي الزُّهري، عن عمِّه، عن عُبيد الله بن عبد الله بن الحارث بن نَوفَل، قال: مات خَبّاب بن الأرتّ سنةَ سبع وثلاثين، وهو أولُ مَن قَبَره عليٌّ بالكوفة من أصحابِ رسول الله ﷺ، وأول مَن صُلِّي عليه بعد مَرجِع أميرِ المؤمنين من صِفِّينَ (5).

It is narrated from Ubaydullah bin Abdullah that Sayyiduna Khabbab bin al-Aratt (may Allah be pleased with him) died in the year 37 AH. He was the first of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) whom Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) buried in the land of Kufah, and he was the first person over whom the Commander of the Believers, Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), performed the funeral prayer after returning from the Battle of Siffin.
