Al-Hasan al-Basri narrates from Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the Battle of the Camel, when Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) saw the slain and the severed heads scattered about, he said: "O Hasan! What good can be hoped for after this?" Sayyiduna Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "I had forbidden you from this matter before you entered into it."
