Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5611

It is narrated from Urwah, concerning the names of those who took part in the Aqabah and pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said: From Banu Awf, and then from Banu Salim bin Qawqal, was Ubadah bin al-Samit (may Allah be pleased with him). He was a naqib (chief), and he took part in the Battle of Badr.

Explanation & Benefits

Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts the name here is corrupted into "Ja'far", whereas the original name is "Qawqal", which is the nickname of Ghanm bin 'Awf; there is no one named Ja'far in this lineage, and manuscript (Z) also has a mark over it.
