أخبرنا أبو العباس القاسم بن القاسم السَّيّاري بمَرْو، حَدَّثَنَا عبد الله بن علي الغَزّال، حَدَّثَنَا علي بن الحسن بن شَقِيق، حَدَّثَنَا عبد الله بن المبارك، أخبرنا حَميدٌ الطَّويل، عن أنس بن مالك: أنَّ أبا طَلْحةَ كان يَرمي بين يَدَي رسولِ الله ﷺ، وكان النبيُّ ﷺ يَرفَع رأسَه من خَلْفِه لينظُرَ أين يقَعُ نَبْلُه، فيَتطاولُ أبو طَلْحةَ بصَدْرِهِ يَقِي به رسولَ الله ﷺ يقول: هكذا يا نبيَّ الله، جعَلَنِي اللهُ فِداكَ، نَحْرِي دُونَ نَحْرِك (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه. ذكرُ مناقب عُبَادةَ بن الصامت ﵁ -

Humayd al-Tawil narrates from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) was standing in front of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) shooting arrows, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would raise his blessed head from behind him to see where his arrow landed. So Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) would stretch out his chest and become a shield for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), saying: "O Prophet of Allah! Stay like this; may Allah make me a ransom for you; my life is sacrificed for your life."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(2) حديث صحيح، وهذا إسناد رجاله ثقات غير عبد الله بن علي الغزال، فهو مجهول الحال، لكنه متابع. حميد الطويل: هو ابن أبي حميد.
Grading: The hadith is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): All the narrators of this chain are thiqah except Abd Allah bin 'Ali al-Ghazzal, who is of unknown status (majhul al-hal), but he is corroborated here. Humayd al-Tawil is Humayd bin Abi Humayd.
وأخرجه ابن حبان (4582) من طريق الحسن بن عيسى، و (7181) من طريق حِبّان بن موسى كلاهما عن عبد الله بن المبارك، به.
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban narrated it at (4582) via al-Hasan bin 'Isa and at (7181) via Hibban bin Musa; both of them narrate from Abd Allah bin al-Mubarak.
وأخرجه أحمد 19 / (12024) و 20 / (13139) عن محمد بن إبراهيم بن أبي عدي، والنسائي (8226) من طريق مُعتمِر بن سليمان كلاهما عن حميد الطويل، به.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad narrated it (12024 and 13139) from Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Abi 'Adi, and al-Nasa'i (8226) via Mu'tamir bin Sulayman; both of them transmit from Humayd al-Tawil.
وقد تقدَّم بنحوه عند المصنّف برقم (2579) من طريق ثابت البُناني عن أنس.
Reference / Source: A similar narration has passed with the author (al-Hakim) at no. (2579) with the chain of Thabit al-Bunani from Anas.
