It is narrated from Ibn Ishaq, concerning the names of the seventy people who took part in the Pledge of Aqabah, that he said: From Banu Salim bin Awf bin Amr bin Awf bin al-Khazraj was Ubadah bin al-Samit bin Qays bin Asram bin Fihr bin Tha'labah bin Ghanm bin Salim (may Allah be pleased with him). He was a naqib (chief), and he took part in the Battle of Badr and in all the battles alongside the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In the manuscripts available to us this word has become "Bahz" (with ba' at the start and za' at the end), but the correct form is the one established in the other narrations from Ibn Ishaq and in the books of genealogy.
Reference / Source: This narration is in Ibn 'Asakir's "Tarikh Dimashq" (26/ 187) with the chain of Ridwan bin Ahmad from Ahmad bin Abd al-Jabbar. Reference / Source: It is in Ibn Hisham's "al-Sirah al-Nabawiyyah" (1/ 464) from the narration of Ziyad al-Bakka'i from Ibn Ishaq, and in Ibn 'Asakir (26/ 190) via Yahya bin Sa'id al-Umawi from Ibn Ishaq.
