(2). Bilal bin Abi al-Darda narrates from his father Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The sky has not shaded, nor has the earth carried, anyone more truthful of tongue than Abu Dharr."
Chapter on the trial of Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him): Mus'ab bin Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas narrates from his father, who narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) through several authentic chains, that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The people most severely tried are the prophets, then the scholars, then those nearest to them in rank, then those next nearest."

Hadith Takhrij«
Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
(5556). Grading: (1) It is "hasan li-ghayrihi" (sound due to supporting reports), and this chain is weak because of the weakness of Ali bin Zayd (Ibn Jud'an). Note / Clarification: This hadith is also narrated from Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) through another route, which will come with the author (al-Hakim) under number (5556). Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ahmad [45/ (27493)] from Hasan bin Musa al-Ashyab and Sulayman bin Harb, with this chain. Reference / Source: It was recorded by Ibn Abi Shaybah (13/ 343) from Abu Mu'awiyah al-Darir, from al-Hasan bin Salim bin Abi al-Ja'd, from his father, who said: "Abu al-Darda' sent a messenger to Abu Dharr..." and he mentioned a story, at the end of which: "Abu al-Darda' said: The green (sky) has not shaded, nor has the dusty (earth) carried, anyone more truthful of tongue than you, O Abu Dharr!" Grading: Its narrators are thiqah (trustworthy), but it is "mursal", because Salim did not reach Abu Dharr. Technical note / Defect ('illah): A corruption occurred in the chain in "al-Musannaf" (of Ibn Abi Shaybah) which gives the false impression that the chain is connected. We corrected it from Ibn Abi 'Asim's "al-Zuhd" (68), where he narrated parts of the story of Abu al-Darda' with Abu Dharr from Ibn Abi Shaybah with this same chain.
Note / Clarification: (2) It has already passed with the author (al-Hakim) under numbers (121) and (122), but with the wording: "The prophets, then the next best, then the next best", without mention of the scholars. Indeed, the mention of the scholars came only in al-Hakim's narration of the hadith of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, which passed with him under number (120); none of the others who recorded the hadith of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri mentioned it.
