(3). It is narrated from Amr bin Thabit that he said: A man came to Sayyiduna al-Husayn bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) while he was eating, and he said: "Come near and eat." He said: I have already eaten. He asked: "With whom?" He said: With Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both). He said: "Listen! Indeed, his father was the chief of Quraysh."

Grading: (3) This chain is da'if. Technical note / Defect ('illah): This is because of the weakness of 'Amr bin Thabit (Ibn Hurmuz al-Kufi). Moreover, he did not meet al-Husayn bin 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) (so there is a break); rather he narrates this report from Habib bin Abi Thabit, as al-Tabarani narrated in "al-Kabir" (2911) and "al-Awsat" (1954) via Abu 'Attab Sahl bin Hammad al-Dallal, from 'Amr bin Thabit: "Habib bin Abi Thabit narrated to me, saying: One of the wives of al-Husayn prepared food", and then he mentioned something similar, longer than what is here. Also, it does not explicitly state that Habib bin Abi Thabit was present at this incident, and Habib used to narrate mursal reports frequently. Jarir is Ibn Abd al-Hamid.
