Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5491

أخبرنا أبو جعفر البغدادي، حدثنا أبو عُلَاثة، قال: حدثني أبي، حدثنا ابن لهيعة، عن أبي الأسود، عن عُروة بن الزُّبير، قال: كان العباس بن عبد المطلب قد أسلَم وأقام على سِقايتِه، ولم يُهاجر (1).

It is narrated from Urwah bin al-Zubayr that Sayyiduna al-Abbas bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) had accepted Islam and remained in Makkah in charge of his siqayah (the service of giving water to the pilgrims), and he had not (at that time) emigrated.

(1) رجاله لا بأس بهم كما تقدَّم بيانه برقم (4378)، لكنه مرسل. أبو عُلَاثة: هو محمد بن عمرو بن خالد الحَرَّاني، وابن لهيعة هو عبد الله، وأبو الأسود: هو محمد بن عبد الرحمن المعروف بيتيم عروة.
Grading: There is no harm in its narrators, as was explained at number (4378), but it is "mursal".
Identification of narrators: "Abu 'Ulathah" is Muhammad bin 'Amr bin Khalid al-Harrani; "Ibn Lahi'ah" is Abdullah bin Lahi'ah; and "Abu al-Aswad" is Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman, known as "the orphan of 'Urwah".
وأخرجه البيهقي في "سننه الكبرى" 9/ 15 عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: It was recorded by al-Bayhaqi in "al-Sunan al-Kubra" 9/ 15 from Abu Abdullah al-Hakim with this same chain.
