(1). Awn bin Abdullah bin Utbah narrates from his father that the state of worship of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) was such that when all eyes had gone to sleep, a sound like the humming of bees (of recitation and weeping) would be heard from him until the morning.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
33/ 166. Technical note / Defect ('illah): (1) Its men (narrators) are "thiqah", but the "mahfuz" (preserved) version is that it is the narration of 'Awn bin 'Abdullah bin 'Utbah (Ibn Mas'ud), which he narrates from his brother 'Ubaydullah bin 'Abdullah bin 'Utbah in "mursal" form. So Waki' bin al-Jarrah narrated it in "al-Zuhd" (155), and by way of him Ahmad in "al-Zuhd" (848) and Ibn 'Asakir (33/ 166). Reference / Source: Likewise 'Abdah bin Sulayman narrated it, as found with Ibn Abi Shaybah (2/ 272). Both of them (Waki' and 'Abdah) narrate it from Mis'ar bin Kidam. Technical note / Defect ('illah): (Identification of narrators): Abu al-Muwajjih is "Muhammad bin 'Amr bin al-Muwajjih al-Fazari", 'Abdan is the nickname of "'Abdullah bin 'Uthman bin Jabalah al-Marwazi", 'Abdullah is "Ibn al-Mubarak", and Ma'n bin 'Abd al-Rahman is "Ibn 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud".
