عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ أَعْتَقَ ثَلَاثِينَ أَلْفَ بَيْتٍ

حدثني محمد بن يعقوب، حدَّثنا محمد بن إسحاق، حدَّثنا أبو همَّام، حدَّثنا الحسين بن علي، عن جعفر بن بُرْقان، قال: بلغني أنَّ عبد الرحمن بن عوف أعتَقَ ثلاثين ألفَ بيتٍ (3).
Ja'far bin Burqan narrates: It reached me that Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) freed thirty thousand slaves (households) for the pleasure of Allah.

(3) إسناده ضعيف لإعضاله، فإنَّ جعفر بن بُرقان من تبع الأتباع. محمد بن إسحاق: هو أبو العباس السرَّاج.
Grading: (3) Its chain is da'if (weak) because of i'dal (two or more consecutive narrators missing from the chain), since Ja'far bin Burqan is among the successors of the successors (tab' al-tabi'in).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Muhammad bin Ishaq: he is Abu al-'Abbas al-Sarraj.
وأخرجه أبو نعيم في "حلية الأولياء" 1/ 99، ومن طريقه ابن عساكر 35/ 293 عن أبي حامد بن جَبَلة، عن أبي العباس محمد بن إسحاق السراج، به.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Abu Nu'aym in "Hilyat al-Awliya'" (1/ 99), and by way of him Ibn 'Asakir (35/ 293), from Abu Hamid bin Jabalah, from Abu al-'Abbas Muhammad bin Ishaq al-Sarraj, with this chain.
وفي "تنبيه الغافلين" لأبي الليث السمرقندي ص 500: روى عثمان بن عطاء، عن أبيه، قال: دخل رجل مع عبد الرحمن بن عوف في حائط له، فأعتق ثلاثين رقبة. وعثمان بن عطاء: هو ابن أبي مسلم الخراساني، وهو ضعيف، وأبوه من صغار التابعين.
Reference / Source: In Abu al-Layth al-Samarqandi's "Tanbih al-Ghafilin" (p. 500): 'Uthman bin 'Ata' narrated from his father, who said: A man entered one of his orchards with 'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Awf, and he freed thirty slaves (there).
Grading: 'Uthman bin 'Ata': he is Ibn Abi Muslim al-Khurasani, and he is da'if (weak), while his father is among the junior Successors.
