Ya'qub bin Utbah narrates that Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) was born ten years after the Year of the Elephant and passed away in the year 32 AH - may Allah have mercy on him. At that time he was 75 years old. His kunyah was Abu Muhammad, and he was buried in Jannat al-Baqi'. Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) led his funeral prayer. He was tall, soft-skinned, and of a white complexion tinged with red.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Reference / Source: (1) It is in Abu Nu'aym's "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (466) from Abu al-Shaykh, from Ibn Rustah, with this chain. Reference / Source: It is also in Ibn Sa'd's "al-Tabaqat al-Kubra" (3/ 115, 123 and 125) from Muhammad bin 'Umar al-Waqidi. Technical note / Defect ('illah): So Abu Ayyub is not alone in narrating it; he (Abu Ayyub) is Sulayman bin Dawud al-Shadhakuni. Note / Clarification: Ibn Sa'd added in his narration: "('Abd al-Rahman bin 'Awf) had a handsome face, had a slight stoop, and did not change (the colour of) his beard or his head (i.e. he did not dye them)." Reference / Source: The description of 'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Awf was narrated by Ibn 'Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" (35/ 249) from Ibrahim bin al-Mundhir, from al-Waqidi (as al-Waqidi's own statement). Then he said: "'Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) led his funeral prayer, and it is said that al-Zubayr bin al-'Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him) led it."
