Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5415M

Mus'ab bin Abdullah narrates: Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf bin Abd al-Rahman bin al-Harith bin Zuhrah; his mother and the mother of his brother al-Aswad bin Awf was al-Shifa' bint Awf bin Abd al-Harith bin Zuhrah bin Kilab, who had emigrated before the Conquest of Makkah. Abd al-Rahman's name (previously) was Abd Amr, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) changed it and named him Abd al-Rahman.

Reference / Source: (2) It is in Mus'ab bin Abd Allah al-Zubayri's "Nasab Quraysh" (p. 265).
Note / Clarification: Except that in it the name of Abd al-Rahman bin Awf's grandfather is given as "Abd Awf bin Abd bin al-Harith", in agreement with Ibn Ishaq.
