Masruq narrates that among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), those expert in the office of judgeship (qada) were six: Sayyiduna Umar, Sayyiduna Ali, Sayyiduna Abdullah, Sayyiduna Ubayy, Sayyiduna Zayd and Sayyiduna Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with them).
This is how it was narrated to us, but in most narrations, and the more authentic ones, Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) is mentioned in place of Sayyiduna Abu Musa.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) Its chain is sahih. Note / Clarification: "Abu Nu'aym" is al-Fadl bin Dukayn, and "Mutarrif" is Ibn Tarif al-Kufi. "Abd Allah" is Ibn Mas'ud, and "Zayd" is Ibn Thabit. Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi recorded it in "al-Madkhal ila al-Sunan al-Kubra" (148), and through him Ibn Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" (32/ 64), from Abu Abd Allah al-Hakim with this same chain. Reference / Source: Ibn Sa'd (2/ 303) recorded it (and through him al-Baladhuri in "Ansab al-Ashraf" (11/ 214) and Ibn Asakir (19/ 314)) from Ubayd Allah bin Musa; and al-Tabarani in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" (528) (and through him Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (745)) and Ibn Asakir (19/ 314) via Abu Ghassan Malik bin Isma'il. Both of them (Ubayd Allah and Malik) narrate it from al-Hasan bin Salih with this chain. Details of the narration: But Ubayd Allah bin Musa said in his narration: "The Companions who gave fatwas were …" (6073). Reference / Source: See what will come at nos. Technical note / Defect ('illah): (2) This is what the author (al-Hakim) (may Allah have mercy on him) said! And it is a "wahm" (error) on his part. None of the authentic narrations mentions "Mu'adh bin Jabal" in place of Abu Musa. Rather, some of them mention "Abu al-Darda'" in place of Abu Musa, as in Ya'qub bin Sufyan's "al-Ma'rifah wa al-Tarikh" (1/ 444-445), al-Bayhaqi's "al-Madkhal" (146) and Ibn Asakir (33/ 155-156 and 42/ 409), via Mansur bin al-Mu'tamir, from al-Sha'bi, from Masruq.
