Muhammad bin Umar said: The kunyah of Anas bin Marthad bin Abi Marthad al-Ghanawi was Abu Yazid. He was an ally of Sayyiduna Hamzah bin Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him). He died in Rabi' al-Awwal in the year 20 AH, and there was a difference of twenty-one years between his age and that of his father. I have already mentioned Abu Marthad al-Ghanawi and then his son Marthad, and this is his grandson; all three generations are Companions of the Messenger.
Mention of the virtues of Usayd bin Hudayr al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him).

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Reference / Source: (1) It is in "al-Tabaqat al-Kubra" of Ibn Sa'd (5/ 105), narrated from Muhammad bin Umar al-Waqidi, from a shaykh of the tribe of "Ghani". Technical note / Defect ('illah): This is how al-Waqidi transmitted it from a shaykh of Ghani, and he named the man "Unays" (in the diminutive form). Ibn Abd al-Barr said in "al-Isti'ab" (48): "Unays bin Marthad, and he is also called Anas, but the first (Unays) is more common."
Note / Clarification: (2) Both of these have already passed at number (5034) and what follows it.
