Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5283

It is narrated about Shurahbil bin Hasanah that Hasanah was his mother, who was from the Adawli tribe. His father, Abdullah bin al-Muta' bin Amr, was from the tribe of Kindah and was an ally of Banu Zuhrah. His kunyah was Abu Abdullah, and he was among those who took part in the second emigration to Abyssinia.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: (2) "al-Hasan" refers to Ibn al-Jahm, "al-Husayn" refers to Ibn al-Faraj, and "Muhammad bin 'Umar" refers to al-Waqidi.
Reference / Source: Ibn Sa'd mentioned a statement like al-Waqidi's in "al-Tabaqat" (4/ 119) (without attributing it to him), but in it the word "'Adawliyyah" has been corrupted to "'Adawiyyah".
Note / Clarification: "'Adawliyyah": this is an attribution to "'Adawla", a locality of al-Bahrayn, as Mus'ab al-Zubayri said in "Nasab Quraysh" (p. 395).
Reference / Source: From the mursal narration of 'Urwah bin al-Zubayr it will come under number (5286) that: "al-Najashi sent Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her) to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with Shurahbil bin Hasanah." This narration has already passed under number (2776) from Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her) herself in connected (mawsul) form, which implies that Shurahbil was among the emigrants to Abyssinia.
