Ghazwan bin Utbah bin Ghazwan narrates from his father that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever deliberately lies about me, let him take his seat in the Fire."
Mention of the virtues of Sayyiduna Abu Ubaydah bin al-Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him).

Grading: (3) Its chain is "very weak" because of "'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Amr bin Jabalah", who is "matruk" (as Ibn Hajar said in al-Isabah 4/438). Technical note / Defect ('illah): And about Ghazwan bin 'Utbah bin Ghazwan, al-'Uqayli said in "al-Du'afa'" [3/335]: "He is not known except through this hadith, and he is not corroborated on its chain, though the text is well known." We say: Muhammad bin Zakariyya al-Ghalabi is weak and al-Daraqutni accused him, but he is not alone in narrating it. It is astonishing of the author (al-Hakim) that he declared the hadith weak and gharib because of al-Ghalabi, yet kept silent about his shaykh Ibn Jabalah, although he is like him, if not worse. In fact Ibn Jabalah is the "'illah" (defect) of this hadith, because several people besides al-Ghalabi narrated it from Ibn Jabalah, so it hinges on him. Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani recorded it in "al-Kabir" [17/(288)] from Muhammad bin Zakariyya al-Ghalabi with this same chain. Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani recorded it in "Turuq Hadith Man Kadhaba 'Alayya Muta'ammidan" (172) - and via him Ibn al-Jawzi in "al-Mawdu'at" (96) - from Ibrahim bin Hashim al-Baghawi; al-'Uqayli in "al-Du'afa' al-Kabir" (1431) from Ahmad bin Muhammad bin 'Asim al-Razi; and Abu al-Qasim al-Rafi'i in "al-Tadwin fi Akhbar Qazwin" [2/78] via Sayyar bin al-Hasan al-Tustari. All three (Ibrahim, Ahmad, Sayyar) narrate it from 'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Amr bin Jabalah with this same chain. (28). Important point: This text is "well known", as al-'Uqayli said; indeed it is "mutawatir" (mass-transmitted). See its supporting reports in the commentary on hadith (28) of "Sahih Ibn Hibban".
