حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا أحمد بن عبد الجبار، حدثنا يونس بن بُكَير، عن ابن إسحاق، حدثني مَعْبَد بن كعب، عن أخيه، عن كعب بن مالك، قال: لما قال لي رسولُ الله ﷺ: "أَخرِجُوا لي اثني عَشَر نَقِيبًا"، فأخرَجْنا له سعدَ بن عُبادة بن دُلَيم بن حارثة بن حَزِيمة بن ثعلبة بن طَريف بن الخَزْرج بن ساعِدَة، وكان نَقِيبَ بني ساعِدةَ (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "Bring out for me twelve nuqaba' (representatives) (from among the Ansar)," we presented to him (peace and blessings be upon him) Sa'd bin Ubadah bin Dulaym bin Harithah bin Hazimah; he was the naqib of Banu Sa'idah.

(1) إسناده حسنٌ من أجل محمد بن إسحاق، لكن لم يقع تسمية النقباء في شيء من الروايات عن ابن إسحاق بسنده هذا إلّا في رواية يونس بن بُكَير، ولكنه لم ينفرد به، فقد سماهم غيره من أهل السير.
Grading: (1) Its chain is "hasan" because of Muhammad bin Ishaq.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): However, in none of the narrations from Ibn Ishaq with this chain is the list of the names of the "nuqaba'" (the appointed leaders) found, except in the narration of Yunus bin Bukayr. Yet Yunus is not alone in this, since others among the scholars of the Sirah have also named them.
وأخرجه البيهقي في "دلائل النبوة" 2/ 444 - 449 عن أبي عبد الله الحاكم، بهذا الإسناد. وذكر قصة بيعة العقبة الثانية بطولها.
Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi recorded it in "Dala'il al-Nubuwwah" [2/444-449] from Abu 'Abdullah al-Hakim with this same chain, and he mentioned the story of the Second Pledge of 'Aqabah at length.
وأخرجه الطبراني في "الكبير" (5354) و 19/ (174)، وأبو نعيم في "معرفة الصحابة" (3114) من طريق محمد بن عبد الله بن نمير، عن يونس بن بُكَير، به.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani recorded it in "al-Kabir" [5354 and 19/(174)], and Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (3114), via Muhammad bin 'Abdullah bin Numayr, from Yunus bin Bukayr, with this same chain.
