حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق الصَّغَاني، حدثنا حسين بن محمد المرُّوْذِي، حدثنا عبد الله بن عبد الملك الفِهْري، حدثنا القاسم بن محمد بن أبي بكر، عن أبيه، عن أبي بكر، قال: جئتُ بأبي قُحافةَ إلى رسول الله ﷺ، فقال: "هَلّا تركتَ الشيخَ حتى آتيهَ؟ " فقلت: بل هو أحقُّ أن يأتيَك، قال: "إنا لَنحفَظُه لأيادي ابنه عندَنا" (5). صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I brought Abu Quhafah to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Why did you not leave the old man where he was, so that I could have come to him myself?" I said: (O Messenger of Allah!) Rather, he is more deserving of coming to you. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, we show him regard and respect because of the favours his son (Abu Bakr) has done us."

(5) صحيح لغيره دون قوله: "إنا لنحفظه … " إلخ، وهذا إسناد ضعيف، قال الذهبي في "تلخيصه": عبد الله منكر الحديث والقاسم لم يُدرك أباه، ولا أبوه أبا بكر. قلنا: لكن له شواهد يصحُّ بها الخبر.
Grading: This hadith is "sahih li-ghayrihi" (authentic due to other reports), except for the statement: "Inna la-nahfazuhu..." (etc.). This chain is "weak". Al-Dhahabi said in "al-Talkhis": "'Abdullah is munkar al-hadith, and al-Qasim did not meet his father, nor did his father meet Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him)." We say: but this report has "supporting reports" (shawahid) through which it is established as sahih.
وأخرجه البزار (79)، وأبو نعيم في "فضائل الخلفاء الراشدين" (69) من طريق إبراهيم بن سعيد الجوهري، عن الحسين بن محمد المرُّوذي، بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Al-Bazzar (79) and Abu Nu'aym in "Fada'il al-Khulafa' al-Rashidin" (69) narrated it by way of Ibrahim bin Sa'id al-Jawhari, from al-Husayn bin Muhammad al-Marrudhi, with this same chain.
ويشهد له حديث أنس بن مالك الذي قبله.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A shahid (supporting report) for it is the hadith of Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that has passed before it.
وحديثُ أسماء بنت أبي بكر الذي تقدَّم عند المصنف برقم (4411) وإسناده حسن.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Also a supporting report for it is the hadith of Asma' bint Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her), which has passed with the author (al-Hakim) at number (4411), and its chain is "hasan".
