Ibn Ishaq, in listing the names of the participants of the Battle of Badr belonging to Banu Zurayq bin Amir, states: Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Malik bin al-Ajlan al-Zuraqi (may Allah be pleased with him).

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
2/ 444. Reference / Source: Ibn Mandah narrated it in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (2/584) through Muhammad bin Ya'qub and Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Ziyad; both of them narrate it from Ahmad bin Abd al-Jabbar with this same chain. Technical note / Isolated narration (tafarrud): However, Yunus bin Bukayr is alone in this narration among the other students of Ibn Ishaq, as al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar indicated in "al-Isabah" (2/444). (2638). Important point: Mu'adh bin Rifa'ah bin Rafi' denied that his grandfather "Rafi' bin Malik" (may Allah be pleased with him) took part in the Battle of Badr, as recorded by Abu al-Qasim al-Baghawi in "Mu'jam al-Sahabah" (673), al-Tabarani in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" (4454) and Abu Nu'aym in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (2638). Examination and critique: Mu'adh bin Rifa'ah reports from his grandfather Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said to his son Rifa'ah (Mu'adh's father): "It would not please me to have attended Badr in exchange for al-'Aqabah" (that is, al-'Aqabah was of greater importance to him, or he was not at Badr). Al-Bukhari (3993) narrated it. This narration weakens Ibn Ishaq's statement that Rafi' bin Malik took part in the Battle of Badr. Although Musa bin 'Uqbah followed Ibn Ishaq in counting him among the Companions of Badr (as Ibn Hajar said in "al-Isabah"), both of them erred, since there is an explicit statement from Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) himself that he did not attend Badr, and his grandson Mu'adh also denied it.
