It is narrated from Sayyiduna Urwah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with him), concerning those of Banu Adi who took part in the Battle of Badr with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that among them was Sayyiduna Tha'labah bin Anamah bin Adi (may Allah be pleased with him), and he was martyred on the day of the Battle of al-Khandaq.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its narrators are "la ba'sa bihim" (that is, the chain is acceptable), as has passed earlier at number (4378). Technical note / Identification of narrator: "Abu 'Ulathah" is Muhammad bin 'Amr bin Khalid al-Harrani. "Ibn Lahi'ah" is Abd Allah bin Lahi'ah, and "Abu al-Aswad" is Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman, known as "Yatim 'Urwah" ('Urwah's orphan). Reference / Source: Imam al-Tabarani narrated it in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" (no. 1401) from Abu 'Ulathah with this same chain. (1403). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: In counting Tha'labah bin 'Anamah (may Allah be pleased with him) among the Companions who fought at Badr, 'Urwah bin al-Zubayr is supported by Ibn Shihab al-Zuhri as well (see: Ibn Abi 'Asim's "al-Ahad wa al-Mathani" 1824, and Abu Nu'aym's "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" 1399). Ibn Shihab also agreed with 'Urwah regarding his martyrdom in the Battle of the Trench (al-Khandaq), as al-Tabarani narrated from him in "al-Kabir" (1403). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: Ibn Ishaq also agreed with 'Urwah and al-Zuhri that Tha'labah (may Allah be pleased with him) took part in the Battle of Badr and was martyred in the Battle of the Trench (see: Ibn Hisham's "al-Sirah al-Nabawiyyah" 1/463). Technical note: Al-Daraqutni mentioned in "al-Mu'talif wa al-Mukhtalif" (1/235) that Ibn Ishaq gave his father's name as "Ghanamah" (with the dotted ghayn), not with the undotted 'ayn. Technical note / Defect ('illah): However, it is also narrated from 'Urwah bin al-Zubayr through another, "weak" chain (see: al-Daraqutni's "al-Mu'talif wa al-Mukhtalif" 3/1590) that this Tha'labah bin 'Anamah was martyred at the Battle of Khaybar.
