Ibn Ishaq relates that Sayyiduna Ma'n bin Adi (may Allah be pleased with him) was an ally from the Bali tribe. He took part in the Pledge of Aqabah, and he participated in the battles of Badr, Uhud, al-Khandaq and all the battles with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He was martyred in the Battle of Yamamah during the caliphate of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him).

1/ 456. Reference / Source: This narration is in Ibn Hisham's "al-Sirah al-Nabawiyyah" (1/ 456). Details of the narration: 'Urwah bin al-Zubayr confirmed in "Sahih al-Bukhari" (4021) that Ma'n bin 'Adi took part in the Battle of Badr. When al-Zuhri asked him about the statement of 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him): "When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away, I said to Abu Bakr: Take us to our brothers the Ansar; and we met two righteous men from among them who had taken part in Badr", 'Urwah said: Those two were "'Uwaym bin Sa'idah and Ma'n bin 'Adi". (6148). Historical note: Imam al-Zuhri also confirmed that he (Ma'n bin 'Adi) took part in the Pledge of al-'Aqabah and the Battle of Badr, as found in Ibn Abi 'Asim's "al-Ahad wa al-Mathani" (1824) and Abu Nu'aym's "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (6148).
