أخبرنا أبو بكر بن إسحاق، أخبرنا بشر بن موسى، حدثنا الحُميدي، حدثنا سُفيان، عن عبد الملك بن نَوفل بن مُساحِق، قال: كان ابن عمر خامسَ خمسةِ رُفْقةٍ في غَزاةِ مُسَيلِمةَ فقُتِلُوا غيرَه، قُتِلَ زيد بن الخَطَّاب وعبد الله بن مَخْرمةَ واثنان آخران (1).

It is narrated from Abd al-Malik bin Nawfal bin Musahiq that during the battle against Musaylimah, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was part of a group of five companions, all of whom except him were martyred; among them Sayyiduna Zayd bin al-Khattab, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Makhramah and two others were martyred.

Grading: All its narrators are thiqah (trustworthy), but this narration is "mursal".
وروى ابن إسحاق عند ابن هشام في "السيرة النبوية" 2/ 72، وابن عساكر 62/ 417، وابن الأثير في "أسد الغابة" 3/ 664 من حديث ابن عمر نفسه قال: سمعتُ صارخًا يصرخ يوم اليمامة: قتَله العبدُ الأسودُ. يعني قتل مُسيلمةَ العبدُ الأسودُ، أي: وحشيُّ بن حرب. وإسناده حسنٌ.
Reference / Source: Ibn Ishaq (in Ibn Hisham's "al-Sirah al-Nabawiyyah" 2/ 72), Ibn 'Asakir (62/ 417) and Ibn al-Athir in "Usd al-Ghabah" (3/ 664) narrated it as a hadith of Abd Allah bin 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) himself, who said: "I heard a caller calling out on the day of al-Yamamah: The black slave has killed him." That is, the black slave (Wahshi bin Harb) killed Musaylimah the Liar.
Grading: Its chain is "hasan".
