Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (4) The name "'Abd Allah bin Musa" had dropped out of the manuscripts, and it has been established from the other sources. This man is actually "'Umar bin Musa al-Wajihi", and only Yahya bin Ya'la used to call him by the name 'Abd Allah, as Imam al-Daraqutni stated explicitly; apart from him, no one called him 'Abd Allah.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (1) In the manuscripts other than (Z) this name has been corrupted into "al-Shaybani", whereas the correct form is "al-Sami" (an ascription to Samah bin Lu'ayy), as found in al-Daraqutni's chain.
Grading: (2) The chain is "da'if" (weak).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Imam al-Daraqutni stated explicitly in his "Sunan" (1882) that this chain is not established and that 'Abd Allah bin Musa is weak. In fact he is 'Umar bin Musa al-Wajihi, who is "very weak", and some even accused him of fabricating hadith; moreover Yahya bin Ya'la al-Aslami is also a weak narrator.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): There is a third defect in it, "inqita'" (a break), which Ibn 'Abd al-Barr pointed out in "al-Isti'ab" (p. 683): al-Qasim bin 'Abd al-Rahman al-Dimashqi could not have met Marthad, because Marthad (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so how could al-Qasim have met him?

Note / Clarification: (3) This heading, together with the two narrations under it, is present in manuscripts (S), (M) and ('A), and is written in the margin of manuscript (Z) in a different hand, while it has dropped out of manuscript (B).
