Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5043

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa' (may Allah be pleased with him), the Companion of the Messenger, that he heard Sayyiduna Abu Marthad al-Ghanawi (may Allah be pleased with him) say: "Do not sit on graves, and do not pray facing towards them." And Sadaqah bin Khalid has corroborated him in this narration.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (2) The words between the square brackets dropped out of all our manuscripts; they have been restored from "Sahih Abi 'Awanah" (1180) and "Tarikh Dimashq" (10/160), where it is narrated from Bishr bin Bakr with this chain, stating explicitly Wathilah bin al-Asqa' from Abu Marthad al-Ghanawi.

Grading: (3) Its chain is "sahih".
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad (28/17215), Muslim (972) and al-Nasa'i (838) narrated it via al-Walid bin Muslim, and Abu Dawud (3229) via 'Isa bin Yunus al-Sabi'i, both from 'Abd al-Rahman bin Yazid bin Jabir, with this same chain.
