It is narrated from Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa' (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard Sayyiduna Abu Marthad al-Ghanawi (may Allah be pleased with him) say: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Do not sit on graves, and do not pray facing towards them."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it. In its chain, Abdullah bin al-Mubarak is alone in mentioning Abu Idris al-Khawlani between Busr bin Ubaydullah and Wathilah, whereas Bishr bin Bakr and al-Walid bin Mazyad narrated this same report from Busr, stating that he heard it (directly) from Wathilah bin al-Asqa'.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) Like the previous hadith, this too is "sahih".
Technical note / Defect ('illah): (2) Since Imam Muslim has already recorded it in his Sahih (as has passed), there is no basis for including it as an addition (istidrak) on him.
10/ 160. Reference / Source: (1) This narration of al-Walid bin Mazyad is found with Abu 'Awanah in his "Sahih" (1179), al-Bayhaqi in "al-Sunan" (4/79) and Ibn 'Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" (10/160).
