It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that when Zayd bin Harithah, Ja'far bin Abi Talib and Abdullah bin Rawahah (may Allah be pleased with them) were martyred, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sat down and wept (in grief for them), and signs of sorrow and grief could be clearly recognized on his (peace and blessings be upon him) blessed face.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) This hadith is "sahih" except for the words "yabkihim" (he was weeping over them); these do not occur in any narration of Yahya bin Sa'id al-Ansari except this one. Its chain is "da'if" because of the weakness of Sa'id bin Maslamah (Ibn Hisham al-Umawi) and of the one who narrates from him; one of the two is alone in this wording. Reference / Source: It is recorded by Ahmad: 40/ (24313), Muslim (935) and Ibn Hibban (3155) through the route of 'Abdullah bin Numayr; al-Bukhari (1299), (1305) and (4263) and Muslim (935) through the route of 'Abd al-Wahhab al-Thaqafi; Muslim (935) and al-Nasa'i (1986) through the route of Mu'awiyah bin Salih; Muslim (935) through the route of 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Qasmali; Abu Dawud (3122) through the route of Sulayman bin Kathir al-'Abdi; and Ibn Hibban (3147) through the route of 'Ubaydullah bin 'Amr al-Raqqi; these six narrators narrated it from Yahya bin Sa'id al-Ansari, and they mention "huzn" (grief), not "buka'" (weeping). Details of the narration: It has passed under numbers (4397) and (5000) through the route of al-Qasim bin Muhammad bin Abi Bakr al-Siddiq > his paternal aunt 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her).
