Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 4978

Ibrahim bin Ishaq narrates from his father, and he from his grandfather, that Hanzalah bin Abi Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) married and spent with his wife the night whose morning was to be the Battle of Uhud. When he had prayed the dawn prayer, Jamilah (his wife) held on to him again, so he went back to her and had relations with her, as a result of which he entered a state of major ritual impurity (janabah). Then he (having no time for the ritual bath) joined the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) Its chain is "muzlim" (dark, i.e. extremely poor), as al-Dhahabi said in "al-Talkhis".
Technical note / Jarh wa ta'dil: It contains Abu Ishaq Ibrahim bin Ishaq, about whom Ibn Hibban said: "He used to reverse reports and steal hadith", and al-Khatib said: "He was not trustworthy". We say: those above him among his forefathers are known only through this chain, so they are all "majhul" (unknown).
Reference / Source: Al-Waqidi, in "al-Maghazi": 1/ 273 (and through his route Ibn Sa'd: 4/ 291 and Ibn 'Asakir: 27/ 421), narrated from his shaykhs a report exactly like this one.
