أخبرنا أبو بكر بن إسحاق، أخبرنا محمد بن يونس، حدثنا يزيد بن هارون، حدثنا أبو بكر بن عيّاش، عن أبي إسحاق، عن جَعْدة بن هبيرة، قال: قلتُ لعليٍّ: يا خالُ، قتلتَ عثمانَ؟ قال: لا واللهِ، ما قَتَلتُه ولا أمرتُ به، ولكني غُلِبتُ (1). جَعْدة بن هُبيرة تُوفي بعد وفاةِ رسول الله ﷺ، وإنما اشتَبَه علَيَّ بوفاةِ أبيه هُبيرة بن أبي وهب. ذكر مناقبِ سَعْد بن مالك بن خالد بن ثَعْلَبة بن حارثة بن عمرو بن الخَزْرج، كنيتُه أبو سهلٍ ﵁ -
It is narrated from Ja'dah bin Hubayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I said to (my maternal uncle) Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): "O uncle, did you kill Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him)?" He said: "By Allah, I neither killed him nor ordered it, but I was overpowered (that is, matters were taken out of my control)."
(Imam al-Hakim says:) Ja'dah bin Hubayrah lived (for a long time) after the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); I had confused his death with the death of his father, Hubayrah bin Abi Wahb.

(1) إسناده ضعيف جدًّا من أجل محمد بن يونس - وهو الكُديمي - فهو ضعيف جدًّا، لكن صحَّ ذلك عن عليٍّ من وجوه أخرى كما تقدَّم برقم (4577) و (4616).
Grading: (1) Its chain is "da'if jiddan" (very weak) on account of Muhammad bin Yunus (al-Kudaymi), who is a very weak narrator. But this content (matn) is authentically established from 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) through other chains, as has passed under nos. (4577) and (4616).
