Dawud bin Muhammad bin Abi Ma'shar narrates from his father, who narrates from his grandfather, that Sayyidah Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her) died one year before the Hijrah.

Explanation & Benefits

Historical disagreement: Abu Ma'shar (Najih bin 'Abd al-Rahman al-Sindi) has been contradicted on this date. 'Urwah bin al-Zubayr (Khadijah was his father's paternal aunt) mentioned, in al-Bukhari (3896) and elsewhere, that Khadijah died three years before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) emigrated to Madinah.
Statement of Hakim bin Hizam: Khadijah's nephew Hakim bin Hizam also said that she died three years before the Hijrah, as Ibn Sa'd narrated in "al-Tabaqat" (10/19) from his shaykh al-Waqidi, with his chain up to Hakim bin Hizam.
The correct date: Ibn Ishaq also said the same (as will come after it). This is the "correct" view regarding the date of Khadijah's death, as stated decisively by Ibn Hibban in his "Sahih" (after 7010), Majd al-Din Ibn al-Athir in "Jami' al-Usul" (12/96), 'Izz al-Din Ibn al-Athir in "Usd al-Ghabah" (6/85), al-Nawawi in "Tahdhib al-Asma'", and Ibn Hajar in "al-Fath" (11/251).
