It is narrated from Qatadah bin Di'amah al-Sadusi that the daughter of al-Ash'ath bin Qays poisoned Sayyiduna Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) while she was married to him, and she had been bribed with money to do it.

Grading of the chain: This chain is "da'if" because of the weakness of Zuhayr bin al-'Ala' and because of its "irsal", for Qatadah did not live in the time of al-Hasan bin 'Ali. However, this report is also narrated by another route, which will come below. Historical verification: In some narrations without chains it is stated that the one who urged the daughter of al-Ash'ath (Ja'dah) to poison al-Hasan bin 'Ali was "Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan", and in one narration without a chain the name is "Yazid bin Mu'awiyah". Ibn Kathir said in "al-Bidayah wa al-Nihayah" (11/ 209): "In my view this is not authentic, and its not being authentic regarding his father Mu'awiyah is all the more so." Reference / Source: The report of Qatadah was narrated by Abu al-'Arab al-Qayrawani in "al-Mihan" (p. 141) from 'Abd al-'Aziz bin Shaybah al-Azdi, from Ahmad bin al-Miqdam, with this chain. Reference / Source: Ibn Sa'd (6/ 387), and through his route Ibn 'Asakir (13/ 284), narrated it by way of al-Mughirah bin Miqsam, from "Umm Musa". This Umm Musa is a Tabi'iyyah, and discussion of her has passed under number (4722); her hadith possibly merits being graded hasan. She added in her narration: "He suffered from it (the poison), and for about forty days a basin would be placed under him and another taken away." Umm Musa did not mention the bribe of money.
