Grading: This narration is "mawdu'" (fabricated).
Criticism and commendation: In it is 'Isa bin Mihran "al-Musta'tif"; Abu Hatim al-Razi called him a liar. Ibn 'Adi said: He narrated fabricated and munkar hadiths, and he is "consumed by Rafd" (extreme). Al-Daraqutni said: He is an evil man with an evil creed. Al-Khatib said: A book of his authorship came into my hands, on attacking the Companions, declaring them misguided, disbelievers and sinners. We say: We have not found any mention of Hammad bin Wasil (who is in the chain) except in this report, though al-Tusi counted him among the Shi'ite narrators, among the companions of Ja'far bin Muhammad al-Sadiq.
Linguistic explanation: "Al-sirbal": a shirt.
