إِخْبَارُ النَّبِيِّ بِأَنَّ الْحَسَنَ يُصْلَحُ بِهِ بَيْنَ فِئَتَيْنِ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ
Virtues of al-Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) foretelling that through al-Hasan peace would be made between two groups of Muslims

وحدثنا محمد بن هانئ، حدثنا الحسين بن الفضل، حدثنا عفان وسليمان بن حرب، قالا حدثنا حماد بن زيد، حدثنا علي بن زيد، عن الحسن، عن أبي بكرة قال: بَيْنا رسول الله ﷺ يخطُب الناس إذ جاء الحَسنُ بن علي فصَعِد إليه فضمه رسول الله ﷺ، وقال: "ألا إن ابني هذا سيّدٌ، وإنَّ الله ﷿ عَلَّه أن يُصلح به بين فئتين من المسلمين عظيمتين" (1).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was addressing the people when Sayyiduna Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) came and climbed up (onto the pulpit) to him (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) held him close and said: "Behold, this son of mine is a leader, and it is indeed hoped from Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, that He will bring about reconciliation through him between two great groups of the Muslims."

(1) حديث صحيح، وهذا إسناد ضعيف لضعف علي بن زيد - وهو ابن جدعان - غير أنه روى هذا الحديث عن الحسن - وهو البصري - جماعةٌ كما تقدَّم تخريجه عند الطريق التي قبل هذه.
Grading: This hadith is "sahih", (although) this chain is "da'if" because of the weakness of 'Ali bin Zayd (bin Jud'an); but a group narrated this hadith from al-Hasan (al-Basri), as has passed in the referencing of the previous route.
وأخرجه أحمد 34 / (20499)، وأبو داود (4662) من طرق عن حماد بن زيد بهذا الإسناد.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (34/ 20499) and Abu Dawud (4662) narrated it through various routes from Hammad bin Zayd, with this chain.
