It is narrated from Sufyan bin al-Layl al-Hamdani that he said: I came to Sayyiduna Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) after he had given the pledge of allegiance to Mu'awiyah, and I said: O you who have blackened the faces of the believers! Then he mentioned (the narration) like the previous hadith.

Grading of the chain: This chain is utterly "talif" (ruined) because of al-Sari bin Isma'il, for he is "wahin" (extremely weak), as al-Dhahabi said in "al-Talkhis". This narration will come after it by another route which is also "talif", but it will come at number (4872) by a third route which is better than these two. Details of the narration (al-Sari bin Isma'il): The complete narration of al-Sari is as follows: Al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Do not say that, for I heard my father say: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The nights and days will not pass until the affair of this Ummah gathers around a man with wide buttocks and a large throat, who eats and is never full," and that is Mu'awiyah. (Al-Hasan said:) So I knew that the command of Allah would surely come to pass, and I feared that blood would be shed between me and him. By Allah! After hearing this hadith, it would not please me to have the world and all that the sun and the moon rise upon, and then meet Allah the Exalted having unjustly shed even a cupping-vessel's worth of a Muslim's blood. Nu'aym bin Hammad mentioned it in this way at length. Reference / Source: Abu al-Faraj al-Asbahani narrated it in "Maqatil al-Talibiyyin" (p. 67) by way of Muhammad bin 'Amruyah, from Makki bin Ibrahim, with this chain.
