Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 4845

It is narrated from Qatadah that Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) gave birth to Sayyiduna Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) two years after the Battle of Uhud, and between the Battle of Uhud and the arrival of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in Madinah there was a span of two years, six months and fifteen days. Thus, according to the Hijri calendar, Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) was born at 4 years, 6 months and 15 days.

Grading: This narration has some "lin" (softness/weakness) because of Zuhayr bin al-'Ala'.
Reference / Source: Abu Nu'aym recorded it in "Ma'rifat al-Sahabah" (1755), and through his route Ibn 'Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" (13/ 168 and 14/ 116), via Abu Hamid Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Jabalah al-Naysaburi, from Muhammad bin Ishaq al-Thaqafi (who is al-Sarraj), with this chain.
Historical note: This (narration) goes against the view of most biographers, who stated firmly that al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) was born in the third year after the Hijrah. Among these biographers are Muhammad bin 'Umar al-Waqidi, Khalifah bin Khayyat and Ahmad bin 'Abdullah bin 'Abd al-Rahim al-Barqi. See their statements in Ibn 'Asakir's "Tarikh Dimashq" (13/ 167 and 168).
