It is narrated from Uqbah bin al-Harith that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) met Sayyiduna Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both), hugged him to his chest and said: "May my father be ransomed for you! He resembles the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), not Ali." And Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was smiling (on hearing this).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim).

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note (grammatical discussion): Here the word "شبيه" occurs with damma (in the nominative, marfu'), on the basis that "ليس" is taken as a conjunction particle, and this is the view of the Kufan grammarians. Whereas in some narrations "شبيهًا" (with fathah, in the accusative, mansub) occurs, on the basis that it is taken as the predicate (khabar) of "ليس".
Grading: This hadith is "sahih". Criticism and praise of narrators: This chain is "qawi" (strong) because of Abu Qilabah ('Abd al-Malik bin Muhammad al-Raqashi), for he is "saduq" (truthful) and "la ba'sa bihi" (no harm in him), and he has also been corroborated. Abu 'Asim is "al-Dahhak bin Makhlad". Source / Reference: Al-Bukhari (3542) narrated it from Abu 'Asim with this same chain. Source / References: Imam Ahmad (40) narrated it from Muhammad bin 'Abd Allah bin al-Zubayr, and al-Bukhari (3750) via 'Abd Allah bin al-Mubarak. Both of them narrate it from 'Umar bin Sa'id bin Abi Husayn with this same chain.
Variation among the manuscripts: Manuscripts (S) and ('A) add the words: "ولم يخرجاه" (and the two Shaykhs did not record it). And in manuscript (M) it was added later in a different handwriting, marked as a correction.
