Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 4818

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) remained alive for six months after the death of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Salih bin Kaysan, Uqayl, Ibn Uyaynah, al-Muwaqqari, the nephew of al-Zuhri and Ibn Jurayj all narrated it similarly.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (1) Its chain is sahih.
Technical note / Disagreement: However, there is disagreement about whether this is the statement of 'A'ishah or of al-Zuhri, as explained in the previous route. Al-Tabarani narrated it in "al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" [22/ (993)] from Ishaq al-Dabari, from 'Abd al-Razzaq, from Ma'mar, from al-Zuhri, as "his own statement". This is how he mentioned it from al-Dabari (who is the transmitter of "Musannaf 'Abd al-Razzaq"), although what appears in "al-Musannaf" (9774) suggests that it is 'A'ishah's statement, since it is merged into her lengthy hadith about Fatimah and al-'Abbas coming to Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them) to ask for their inheritance. Likewise in "Mustakhraj Abi 'Awanah" (6679), in the narration of al-Dabari, Muhammad bin Yahya al-Dhuhli and Muhammad bin 'Ali al-San'ani (all three from 'Abd al-Razzaq), it is the same, suggesting that it is 'A'ishah's statement.
Technical note / Disagreement: And this contradicts the narration of Ahmad bin Mansur al-Ramadi (from 'Abd al-Razzaq) found in al-Bayhaqi's "al-Sunan al-Kubra" [6/ 300], in which this statement is separated from the hadith of 'A'ishah and explicitly made the statement of al-Zuhri. And Allah Most High knows best. It is not unlikely that it is 'A'ishah's statement and that al-Zuhri agreed with her.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: And it is also narrated from 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) through another chain as her own statement, as al-Tabarani narrated in "al-Kabir" [22/ (994), (1036)], but the chain leading to her contains a "matruk" (abandoned) narrator.
Details of the narration: And on this there is another narration from 'A'ishah that: "Fatimah remained (alive) for two months after the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." It will come shortly with the author under no. (4822), and its chain is weak.

Note / Clarification: (2) In the printed edition this was corrupted (tahrif) into "الواقدي" (al-Waqidi), whereas 'Umar bin Shabbah narrated it in "Tarikh al-Madinah" [1/ 196] via "al-Muwaqqari" (whose name is al-Walid bin Muhammad).

Reference / Source: The author recorded it via him in "Fada'il Fatimah" [(171) and (172)].
