أخبرنا أحمد بن سهل الفقيه ببُخارَى، حدثنا سهل بن المتوكِّل، حدثنا أحمد بن يونس، حدثنا محمد بن فُضيل، عن أبي حيَّان التيمي، عن سعيد بن جُبَير، عن ابن عبّاس قال: قال النبي ﷺ لِعليٍّ: "أمَا إنك ستَلْقى بَعدي جَهْدًا"، قال: في سَلامةٍ من دِيني؟ قال: "في سَلامةٍ من دِينِك" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): "Be aware that after me you will face great hardship and trial." He said: "Will my religion be safe at that time?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, your religion will be safe."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

(1) إسناده جيد من أجل محمد بن فضيل، فهو لا بأس به إلّا أنه كان غاليًا في التشيُّع. أبو حَيَّان التيمي: هو يحيى بن سعيد بن حَيّان.
Grading: Its chain is jayyid (good) because of Muhammad bin Fudayl, for he is "la ba'sa bihi" (acceptable), except that he was extreme in Shi'ism.
Identification of the narrator: Abu Hayyan al-Taymi is Yahya bin Sa'id bin Hayyan.
