It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: When I had put my foot in the stirrup intending to go to Iraq, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) came to me and said: "Do not go to Iraq, for if you go there, you will meet the edge of the sword." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "By Allah! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said this to me before you did." Abu al-Aswad says: I said to myself: Subhanallah! I have never seen anything like today: a fighting man telling people things like this (about his own martyrdom).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: In our manuscripts the word appears thus with the letter "ya'" retained, although it is in the jussive mood because of the prohibitive "la", so by rule the ya' should be dropped. However, retaining the ya' is permissible as a lengthening (ishba') of the kasrah vowel, so it is not the original ya'.
Grading: Its chain is hasan because of Abd al-Malik bin A'yan. Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban (6733) recorded it from al-Fadl bin al-Hubab, from Ibrahim bin Bashshar, with this chain. (53). Corroborating chains and supporting reports: A group of hafizes corroborated Ibrahim bin Bashshar in this narration, among them al-Humaydi in his "Musnad" (53). Linguistic note: Al-gharz: the stirrup of a camel saddle made of stitched leather; if it is of iron or wood it is called "rikab". Linguistic note: Dhubab al-sayf: the edge of the sword with which one strikes.
