Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 4726

Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying to Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him): "You will fight the Nakithin, the Qasitin and the Mariqin on the roads, at the Nahrawanat, and on the mountain peaks." Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari says that I said: O Messenger of Allah! With whom shall I fight against these people? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "With Ali bin Abi Talib."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Linguistic note: In the manuscripts the word is "al-saf'at"; we think it is a corruption of "al-sha'afat", the plural of "sha'afah", meaning "mountain peaks".

Grading: Its chain is "ruined" (talif).
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This is because of al-Asbagh bin Nubatah, Ali bin Abi Fatimah (Ibn al-Hazwar) and Muhammad bin Yunus al-Qurashi (al-Kudaymi), all of whom are "matruk".
Reference / Source: Ibn Hibban recorded it in "al-Majruhin" (1/ 174), and by way of him Ibn al-Jawzi in "al-Mawdu'at" (802) and "al-'Ilal al-Mutanahiyah" (395), by way of Salih bin Abi al-Aswad, from Ali bin al-Hazwar, with it.
