It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), while delivering a sermon on the occasion of the Farewell Hajj, said: "I shall certainly fight the Amalekites with an army." Then Jibril (peace be upon him) said: (Or) Ali (that is, Ali will fight)? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Or Ali bin Abi Talib (will fight)."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
(8850). Note / Clarification: (1) In the manuscripts this name was corrupted to "Usamah", while the correct form appears in "al-Talkhis" and "Ithaf al-Maharah" (8850).
Grading: (2) Its chain is "ruinous" (talif). Technical note / Defect ('illah): This is because Isma'il bin Yahya bin Salamah bin Kuhayl and his father are both "matruk", as al-Dhahabi said in his "Talkhis". And Ibrahim bin Isma'il is also "da'if". Reference / Source: Abu Bakr al-Nasibi narrated it in "al-Fawa'id" (128), al-Tabarani in "al-Kabir" (11088), Ibn al-Ghitrif in his "Juz'" (33) and Ibn Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" (42/451), through various routes from Ibrahim bin Isma'il bin Yahya, with this same chain.
