Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (2) The hadith is sahih, and this chain is weak because Salim bin Salih is unknown, since he is not known, as Abu Hatim al-Razi said; and Yahya bin Abd al-Hamid (al-Himmani) has some weakness. But he is corroborated, and this report is narrated through several routes, one of which is sahih.

Reference / Source: Al-Bayhaqi (8/191), and through his route Ibn Asakir (55/283), narrated it likewise through Ya'qub bin Muhammad al-Zuhri, from Ibrahim bin Sa'd.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani narrated it in "al-Awsat" (1289) and "al-Saghir" (404) through the route of Zayd bin Aslam, from his father, from Muhammad bin Maslamah. Its chain in "al-Awsat" is sahih.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (29/17979) narrated it through the route of al-Hasan al-Basri, who said: Ali sent for Muhammad bin Maslamah and he was brought, and (Ali) asked: What kept you back from this matter (supporting him in the fighting)? He said: Your cousin - meaning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) - gave me a sword and said: "Fight with it as long as the enemy is fought ...." Then he mentioned something similar.
Grading: Its narrators are thiqah, but it is mursal.
Reference / Source: Ahmad (25/16029, 16030) and Ibn Majah (3962) also narrated something similar through the route of Hammad bin Salamah, from Ali bin Zayd bin Jud'an, from Abu Burdah, who said: I passed by al-Rabadhah and there was a tent. I asked: Whose is this? It was said: Muhammad bin Maslamah's. So I asked permission to go in to him ....
Grading: Its chain is weak because of the weakness of Ali bin Zayd.
Reference / Source: Al-Tabarani narrated in "al-Kabir" (12/12968) through the route of Thawab bin Utbah, from Abu Jamrah al-Duba'i, from Ibn Abbas, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave Muhammad bin Maslamah a sword and said: "Fight the polytheists as long as they fight ...." Then he mentioned something similar.
Grading: And its chain is jayyid (good).
