Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 4604

(1) حديث صحيح، هذا إسناد رجاله لا بأس بهم لكن انفرد بهذه الطريق الموصولة أبو جعفر الرازي - وهو عيسى بن ماهان - وهو وإن كان حديثه يحتمل التحسين فإنَّ له أفرادًا، وقد خالف يعلى بن حُكيم فرواه عن نافع مرسلًا لم يذكر فيه ابن عمر كما سيأتي، لكن رُوي هذا الخبر من وجوه متعددة يُقضى بمجموعها عليه بالصحة.
Grading: (1) This hadith is sahih. There is no harm in the narrators of this chain, but Abu Ja'far al-Razi (Isa bin Mahan) is alone in narrating this connected route. Although his hadith can reach the level of hasan, he has some solitary narrations. Ya'la bin Hakim contradicted him, narrating it from Nafi' in mursal form without mentioning Ibn Umar, as will come. However, this report has been narrated through multiple routes which, taken together, establish its authenticity.

Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ibn Abi Shaybah (11/ 76, 14/ 591), al-Bazzar (347), Abu Ya'la in "al-Musnad al-Kabir" (al-Matalib al-Aliyah: 4385/ 1), al-Ajurri in "al-Shari'ah" (1431), Abu al-Shaykh in "Tabaqat al-Muhaddithin bi-Asbahan" (2/ 298-299), al-Lalaka'i in "Sharh Usul al-I'tiqad" (2577), Abu Nu'aym in "Tarikh Asbahan" (1/ 231), Abu al-Qasim al-Asbahani in "Siyar al-Salaf al-Salihin" (page 171) and Ibn Asakir in "Tarikh Dimashq" (39/ 384, 385), through several routes from Ishaq bin Sulayman (al-Razi), with this same chain.
وأخرجه ابن سعد في "الطبقات الكبرى" 3/ 71، والبلاذُري في "أنساب الأشراف" 6/ 202، والبيهقي في "دلائل النبوة" 7/ 48، وابن عساكر 39/ 384 من طريق يعلى بن حكيم، عن نافع مرسلًا. فقد قال أبو زرعة الرازي: نافع مولى ابن عمر عن عثمان مرسل.
Reference / Source: Ibn Sa'd narrated it in "al-Tabaqat al-Kubra" (3/ 71), al-Baladhuri in "Ansab al-Ashraf" (6/ 202), al-Bayhaqi in "Dala'il al-Nubuwwah" (7/ 48) and Ibn Asakir (39/ 384) via the route of Ya'la bin Hakim, from Nafi', in mursal form. For Abu Zur'ah al-Razi said: "The narration of Nafi', the mawla of Ibn Umar, from Uthman is mursal."
وأخرجه إسحاق بن راهويه في "مسنده" كما في "المطالب العالية" (4372)، وعبد الله بن أحمد بن حنبل في زياداته على "فضائل الصحابة" لأبيه (765)، والطبري في "تاريخه" 4/ 383، وابن حبان (6919) من طريق أبي نضرة العَبْدي، عن أبي سعيد مولى أبي أُسَيد. وقال الحافظ في "المطالب": رجاله ثقات سمع بعضهم من بعض.
Reference / Source: Ishaq bin Rahwayh narrated it in his "Musnad" (al-Matalib al-Aliyah: 4372), Abdullah bin Ahmad in his additions to "Fada'il al-Sahabah" (765), al-Tabari in his "Tarikh" (4/ 383) and Ibn Hibban (6919) via the route of Abu Nadrah al-Abdi, from Abu Sa'id, the mawla of Abu Usayd. Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar said in "al-Matalib": "Its narrators are thiqah, and they heard from one another."
وأخرجه عبد الله بن أحمد في زياداته على "المسند" لأبيه 1/ (526)، وفي زياداته على "فضائل الصحابة" (809)، ومن طريقه ابن عساكر 39/ 387، وابن الجوزي في "الثبات عند الممات" ص 101، وابن الأثير في "أسد الغابة" 3/ 490 من طريق يونس بن أبي يعفور العبدي، عن أبيه، عن مسلم أبي سعيد مولى عثمان بن عفان. وإسناده محتمل للتحسين في المتابعات والشواهد من أجل يونس بن أبي يعقوب، فهو مختلفٌ فيه.
Reference / Source: Abdullah bin Ahmad narrated it in his additions to "al-Musnad" (1/ 526) and his additions to "Fada'il al-Sahabah" (809), and via his route Ibn Asakir (39/ 387); and Ibn al-Jawzi in "al-Thabat inda al-Mamat" (page 101) and Ibn al-Athir in "Usd al-Ghabah" (3/ 490), via the route of Yunus bin Abi Ya'fur al-Abdi, from his father, from Muslim Abu Sa'id, the mawla of Uthman bin Affan.
Grading: Its chain may possibly be graded hasan in corroborations and supporting reports because of Yunus bin Abi Ya'fur (about whom there is disagreement).

Grading: Its chain is da'if because Ziyad bin Abdullah and Umm Hilal are majhul.
وأخرجه أحمد بن منيع كما في "المطالب العالية" (1378) وابن أبي عاصم في "السنة" (1302)، والخطيب في "تلخيص المتشابه" 1/ 96، وابن عساكر 39/ 388 و 389 من طريق يحيى بن أبي راشد - ويقال يحيى بن راشد - مولي عمرو بن حريث، عن عُقبة بن أَسيد ومحمد بن عبد الرحمن الحَرَشي، كلاهما عن النعمان بن بشير، عن نائلة بنت الفرافصة. وإسناده ضعيف لجهالة يحيى بن أبي راشد وعقبة ومحمد بن عبد الرحمن.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Ahmad bin Mani' (al-Matalib al-Aliyah: 1378), Ibn Abi Asim in "al-Sunnah" (1302), al-Khatib in "Talkhis al-Mutashabih" (1/ 96) and Ibn Asakir (39/ 388, 389) via the route of Yahya bin Abi Rashid (or Yahya bin Rashid), the mawla of Amr bin Hurayth, from Uqbah bin Usayd and Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman al-Harashi, both from al-Nu'man bin Bashir, from Na'ilah bint al-Furafisah.
Grading: Its chain is da'if because Yahya bin Abi Rashid, Uqbah and Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman are majhul.
وأخرجه سعيد بن منصور (2946)، وأحمد بن حنبل في "فضائل الصحابة" (792)، والبلاذُري في "أنساب الأشراف" 6/ 201، وابن أبي الدنيا في "المنامات" (109)، وابن عساكر 39/ 386 و 389 من طريق فرج بن فضالة، عن مروان بن أبي أمية، عن عبد الله بن سلَام. وإسناده ضعيف لضعف فرج بن فضالة وجهالة مروان بن أبي أميّة. ولقتل عثمان وهو صائم شاهد عن أبي ليلى الكِنْدي بإسناد صحيح، عند عمر بن شبَّة في "تاريخ المدينة" 4/ 1189، والدولابي في "الكنى" (1647)، وابن الأعرابي في "معجمه" (1416)، وابن عساكر 39/ 349.
Reference / Source: It was narrated by Sa'id bin Mansur (2946), Ahmad bin Hanbal in "Fada'il al-Sahabah" (792), al-Baladhuri in "Ansab al-Ashraf" (6/ 201), Ibn Abi al-Dunya in "al-Manamat" (109) and Ibn Asakir (39/ 386, 389) via the route of Faraj bin Fadalah, from Marwan bin Abi Umayyah, from Abdullah bin Salam.
Grading: Its chain is da'if because of the weakness of Faraj bin Fadalah and because Marwan bin Abi Umayyah is majhul.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: However, the martyrdom of Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) while fasting has a supporting report from Abu Layla al-Kindi with a sahih chain, in Umar bin Shabbah (4/ 1189), al-Dulabi (1647), Ibn al-A'rabi (1416) and Ibn Asakir (39/ 349).
وآخر عن عبد الله بن الزبير عند ابن سعد 3/ 67، وابن أبي شيبة 14/ 591 و 15/ 204، وأحمد في "الزهد" (687)، وفي "فضائل الصحابة" (772)، والبلاذُري 5/ 564، وابن عساكر 39/ 394 - 395، وإسناده صحيح أيضًا.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: And another supporting report, from Abdullah bin al-Zubayr, is found in Ibn Sa'd (3/ 67), Ibn Abi Shaybah (14/ 591, 15/ 204), Ahmad in "al-Zuhd" (687) and "Fada'il al-Sahabah" (772), al-Baladhuri (5/ 564) and Ibn Asakir (39/ 394-395); its chain is also sahih.
