Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 456

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Zayd bin Khalid al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever performs ablution and performs it in the best manner, then prays two rak'ahs without letting any (worldly) thought into them (praying them with full attention), his past sins are forgiven."

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: It is sahih li-ghayrihi (authentic due to supporting reports), and its chain is hasan within corroborations and supporting reports because of Hisham bin Sa'd.
Reference / Source: Imam Ahmad recorded it at (28/ 17054), and from him Imam Abu Dawud at (905), through the chain of Abu 'Amir 'Abd al-Malik bin 'Amr from Hisham bin Sa'd.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Imam Ahmad likewise recorded something similar at (36/ 21691) through 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Darawardi, but this chain has a break (inqita') between Zayd bin Aslam and Zayd bin Khalid; between them is 'Ata' bin Yasar, as is stated explicitly in the narration of Hisham bin Sa'd.
Corroborating chains and supporting reports: It has a supporting report in the hadith of 'Uthman bin 'Affan (may Allah be pleased with him), found in Sahih al-Bukhari (1934) and Sahih Muslim (226).
