Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 4535

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated: 'Allahumma a'izz al-Islama bi-Umar ibn al-Khattab khassatan' (O Allah, grant Islam honour and dominance through Umar bin al-Khattab in particular).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it. The pivot of this hadith is the narration of al-Sha'bi from Masruq from Ibn Mas'ud: 'Allahumma a'izz al-Islama bi-ahabbi al-rajulayni ilayk' (O Allah, grant Islam dominance through whichever of the two men is more beloved to You); Mujalid bin Sa'id is alone in narrating it from al-Sha'bi, and I have not previously mentioned any narration of Mujalid.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is "sahih", as al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar said in "al-Fath" (11/90).
Identification of the narrator: "Al-Majishun" refers to Abd al-Aziz bin Abd Allah bin Abi Salamah, and al-Majishun is his nickname.
Grading: Ibn Majah (105) and Ibn Hibban (6882) narrated it via Abd al-Malik bin Abd al-Aziz al-Majishun > Muslim bin Khalid al-Zanji > Hisham bin Urwah. Muslim al-Zanji is "da'if" (weak) but is taken into consideration in corroborating chains and supporting reports, so this chain is "hasan" because Abd al-Aziz al-Majishun corroborates him.

Technical note: Al-Hakim mentioned a narration of Mujalid from al-Sha'bi earlier under no. (4171), but that was al-Sha'bi's own statement; perhaps here he means a musnad narration.
