Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): In the manuscripts of the Mustadrak it is "al-Sa'idi", and al-Dhahabi reported it like this in "Mizan al-I'tidal", followed by Ibn Hajar in "al-Lisan". But the correct form is "al-'Aydhi", as in al-Daraqutni's "al-Mu'talif wa al-Mukhtalif" 3/ 1522 and other books on narrators. This attribution is to 'Aydh Allah bin Sa'd al-'Ashirah (al-Ansab of al-Sam'ani 9/ 104).
Grading: It is "hasan", in sha' Allah.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This (present) chain is weak because Muhammad bin Sulayman al-'Aydhi is unknown, and 'Imran bin Zabyan is also weak (though he can be considered for corroboration). This report is narrated by another route from Abu Yahya (Hukaym bin Sa'd), and by another route from 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), as in the next narration.
Reference / Source: Al-Bukhari (al-Tarikh al-Kabir 1/ 99), Ibn Abi 'Asim (al-Ahad wa al-Mathani 6), al-Tabarani (al-Kabir 14), al-Daraqutni (al-Mu'talif 3/ 1522), Ibn Battah (al-Ibanah 9/ 603), Abu Nu'aym (Ma'rifat al-Sahabah 66), Abu Talib al-'Ushari (Fada'il Abi Bakr 6), al-Khatib (Talkhis al-Mutashabih 1/ 544) and Ibn 'Asakir (30/ 75, 36/ 261) recorded it via routes from Ishaq bin Mansur al-Saluli with this same chain.
Reference / Source: Al-Daraqutni (al-Afrad, as cited in al-Isabah 4/ 172), Abu Nu'aym (65) and Ibn 'Asakir (30/ 75, 76) recorded it via 'Umar bin Yazid (judge of al-Mada'in) > Abu Ishaq al-Sabi'i > Abu Yahya > 'Ali.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): About this 'Umar bin Yazid, Ibn 'Adi said: He is munkar al-hadith, and he mentioned several of his hadiths in which he was not corroborated. Al-Daraqutni said: He is weak; he narrates false reports from the Kufans in which he is not corroborated. We say: but he has been corroborated (supported) in this hadith. So by the combination of his narration, the narration of 'Imran bin Zabyan and the narration of al-Nazzal bin Sabrah from 'Ali (which comes next), the hadith becomes "hasan", in sha' Allah the Exalted.
