Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 4416

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: On the day of the battle of Hunayn, the people of Makkah and the people of Madinah met the enemy, and the fighting grew intense, and the Muslims (at first) turned their backs. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called out to the Ansar and said: "O company of Muslims! I am the Messenger of Allah." They replied: "By Allah! It is to you that we have come." Then, with their heads lowered, they fought until Allah granted them victory.
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: The hadith is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Its chain is "hasan" because of Mubarak bin Fadalah al-Basri, and he has explicitly stated that he heard it, which removes the suspicion of his tadlis.
Note / Clarification: This same narration has already passed at number (2623) from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) through another sahih route, with a longer text than this.
