حدَّثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدَّثنا العباس بن محمد الدُّوري، حدَّثنا يحيى بن أبي بُكَير، حدَّثنا أبو جعفر الرازي، عن مُطرِّف، عن عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى، قال: سمعت عليًّا يقول: ولَّاني رسولُ الله ﷺ خُمسَ الخُمُس، فوضعتُه مَواضِعَه حياةَ رسولِ الله ﷺ وأبي بكر وعُمر (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed me in charge of "the fifth of the fifth" (one fifth of the one-fifth share of the spoils of war), and I spent it only in its appointed places during the lifetimes of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both).
This hadith has an authentic (sahih) chain of narration, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
