It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of Khaybar the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) handed the banner to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). He set off, but when he came back he was declaring his companions to be cowards and his companions were calling him a coward.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: (4) Its chain is "very weak" (da'if jiddan). Technical note / Defect ('illah): The reason is the presence of "al-Qasim bin Abi Shaybah" (the brother of the two hafizes Abu Bakr and 'Uthman), who is "wahi" (very weak), as al-Dhahabi said in "al-Talkhis"; and also because of "Yahya bin Ya'la" (al-Aslami), since he too is da'if in hadith. Details of the narration: After this, the narration will come by way of al-Khalil bin Murrah, from 'Amr bin Dinar, from Jabir, without explicit mention of 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Most scholars graded al-Khalil da'if. Important point: However, mention of the sending of 'Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) on the day of Khaybar has been authentically established in the preceding hadith of Buraydah al-Aslami.
