Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 4381

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had only one woman of the women of Banu Qurayzah killed. By Allah! She was sitting with me, laughing until she was rolling about, while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was having their men killed with swords. Just then a caller called out her name: "Where is so-and-so?" She said: "By Allah! Here I am." I said (in astonishment): "Woe to you! What is the matter with you?" She said: "By Allah! I am going to be killed." I asked: "Why?" She said: "Because of a matter (a crime) that I committed." Then she was taken away and her neck was struck. I do not forget my amazement at the contentment of her soul and how much she smiled, despite knowing that she would be killed.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Note / Clarification: (3) (The meaning of "istaghrabat dahikan" is): she was rolling about from the intensity of laughter.

Grading: (1) Its chain is "hasan" because of Ibn Ishaq (Muhammad bin Ishaq bin Yasar).
Reference / Source: Ahmad (43/ 26364) narrated it by way of Ibrahim bin Sa'd al-Zuhri, and Abu Dawud (2671) by way of Muhammad bin Salamah al-Harrani; both of them narrate it from Muhammad bin Ishaq, with this chain.
Note / Clarification: Ibn Hisham, in "al-Sirah al-Nabawiyyah" (2/ 242), explained the statement of the Jewish woman "li-hadathin ahdathtuhu" (because of a deed I committed). He said: "She is the one who threw the millstone onto Khallad bin Suwayd (may Allah be pleased with him) and killed him."
General principle: Al-Khattabi says in "Ma'alim al-Sunan" (2/ 281): It is said that she had reviled the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). This contains evidence that whoever does that (insults the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him) must be killed.
